Mezcal Artesanal Campante Agave Blend

Mezcal Artesanal Campante caught my attention on social media. Since I’ve had this urge to start making mezcal cocktail videos for the Mezcal Buzz series, Mezcalogy, I was seeking the right mezcal to kick off the first cocktail recipes. That’s where Mezcal Artesanal Campante comes in. I was enticed by their unique blend of agave espadín and barril, attention to mixology, and support of creators, but especially their focus on craftsmanship in creating this unique spirit.

I had to have it

Of course, I had to get my hands on a bottle of Mezcal Artesanal Campante. Most importantly, I needed to have a chance to perform my organoleptic evaluation of the spirit, to be sure it’s what I was looking for to incorporate into the drinks and content I will be creating for you.

Mezcal Artesanal Campante

Mezcal Artesanal Campante sent over an awesome box set with a 750ml bottle, a small jar of sal de guzano (worm salt), #TheTimeIsNow t-shirt, and 3 mezcal cocktail recipe cards. What follows is my full tasting & review of Mezcal Artesanal, and what is the starting point to Mezcalogy, the mezcal cocktail series on Mezcal Buzz.

Tasting

The aromas begin with a nice warming sensation, with pleasant notes of grape skin, sweet citrus-like mandarin or navel oranges, and pineapple, followed by wet hay. The aroma can be described as a ripe sweetness, characteristic of the roasted agave.

Mouthfeel is very smooth, coating, and fresh. There is a caramelized sweetness, with adequate alcohol flavor and sensation. There is a light to medium body with complex flavors.

Mezcal Artesanal is a pleasant mezcal, nice and fresh to sip on, and consistent for cocktails. Pair with a cold fruit plate on a summer day, a BBQ with sish kabob and fresh vegetables.
