The Mezcal Buzz Media Corner, proudly powered by Cask & Capture, was buzzing at this year’s Salud Amigos Fest, and we were honored to welcome Alberto Ochoa, founder of Mezcal Firme, to kick off the interviews.

With nearly five years in the market, Mezcal Firme has carved out a respected name in the world of agave spirits. At the fest, Ochoa shared the brand’s journey, emphasizing the importance of connecting with new consumers and showcasing their carefully crafted expressions.

Debuting the Tepeztate: A Long-Awaited Release

One of the most exciting moments of the day was the official debut of Mezcal Firme’s Tepeztate—an expression distilled from wild 16- to 18-year-old agave tepeztate (A. marmorata), clocking in at 49% ABV. Ochoa described it as “robust,” “complex,” and “100% wild,” a spirit that reflects years of passion and patience. This exclusive mezcal had only been released to a handful of stores, making Salud Amigos Fest the ideal setting for its introduction.

“Very few stores have it… this is a great opportunity to finally showcase something we’re super proud of,” said Ochoa.
